1957 Desoto Fireflite Station Wagon
1957 DESOTO FIREFLITE EXPLORER 9 PASSENGER STATION WAGON.
Rare wagon with only 934 made ever and only very few known to still exist.
A frame off restoration was started on the DeSoto a few years ago and all in all around $60.000 has been spent on the car. It still needs paint, interior and assembly.
The frame was blasted and powder coated, all individual chassis components were also blasted, primered and painted.
The original 341 Hemi was totally rebuilt, assembled and the car was started and driven around the block with the new engine before the DeSoto was taken apart.
The transmission was rebuilt.
Rebuilt brakes, front end.
Most but not all chrome was redone in triple plated show chrome by the best chrome shop in the southwest of the US, around 70-80 pieces all in all. The bumpers are still at the chrome shop and they have not been rechromed yet.
The DeSoto has the Hemi engine, pushbutton operated Torqueflite transmission, power steering, power brakes, tinted glass and it is a 9 passenger wagon with the third seat in the back.
As it sits now probably 80% of the body work has been done and the body is close to ready for final paint. The car has never been rusted as far as we can see, excellent sheet metal including the floors.
