I have always been interested in classic cars for as far as I can remember but I didn't know anything about them or about cars for that matter. Until one day I decided to get one for myself... that didn't go well as you ca imagine. I got scammed and the car I bought was so bad that I had to get rid of it straight away.
Since then, I promised myself that if I were to get into classic cars, I had to learn about them and know what I was talking about. So I bought another one that was very much a project car. Rusted through all the way and with everything needed to be redone. I started learning with this car and I actually realised that I was enjoying it very much. Once I finished it, I bought another two and did it again. I was working a full time job and working on my cars every evening and weekend for many more hours than I should have but I was able to get a car completely restored and sold in about 6 months and 1,000 hours. This started to get me noticed and people were asking me technical questions to help them with their restorations.
Later on, I had an opportunity to move to the UK and learned English to add to my French and Spanish. This is when I started Old Timer Garage. Slowly first but soon, people were asking me a lot of questions and I consigned them on the Old Timer Garage website for people to have access to them. I had still a lot to learn but every new thing I was learning I would add it to the website.
It is over all those years that I have started to make some very interesting contacts. Some of them have become friends and were even there on my wedding day to crank up my classic car to take my bride away! People from pretty much every continent, pros and passionate people alike, all of them having something to share with the rest of the community.
It is the power of this network that I have made available in this website. This is not a website where anyone can put an ad up. It is only people that I am in contact with personally and who I can vouch for. The cars are what the description says they are unlike what you can find in any car advertising website.
Reputation takes a long time to build and can be destroyed in a matter of second. I know that the car sales environment has a bad reputation because of bad practices some people tend to use when they want to get rid of a car and this is exactly what I want to fight against here.
So if you are considering buying your first classic car, or if you want to find the one that will complete your collection or just if you want to chat about classic cars, get in touch... I am always happy to talk about our old tin cans!
